Thomas Dispenziere - Founder and CEO
Tom Dispenziere grew up in Nutley, New Jersey and lives in Wayne with his family. He received his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from William Paterson University.
Tom began his career at BDO Seidman, one of the nation's leading international accounting firms, where he spent twelve years working across tax, audit, management consulting, and bankruptcy divisions. He was among the first at the firm to adopt microcomputer technology — automating SX schedules for public companies and eventually leading the automation of billing, document management, field auditing, and tax return preparation across the entire firm.
He then joined Marden Harrison and Kreuter, CPAs — a firm that specialized exclusively in the construction industry — where he developed deep expertise in the financial workflows that contractors actually need: job costing, AIA billing, WIP schedules, certified payroll, and surety reporting.
In 1991 Tom founded MHK Consultants, which became one of the leading Sage 300 CRE implementation firms in the New York metro area — serving developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and property managers for over 25 years. Under Tom's leadership MHK took three New York City general contractors from startup through $10M, $50M, and $500M respectively.
In 2020 MHK separated its divisions — IT and managed services remained under MHK Consultants, while accounting software, bookkeeping, and reporting tools became BMS Books. Today BMS Books carries forward three decades of construction accounting expertise, delivering big-firm rigor with boutique personal attention to contractors across New York and New Jersey.
